Mr Riva is one of those many obscure artists of whom very little is known, and who recorded very few titles. The only information known about Riva is the year when he entered the Opera in Paris (1884) and one direct recording that he made for La Maison De La Bonne Presse (Cylinder #933: "L'Esprit des Lois").

Found in a blue Louvre box, this cylinder could be made by Pathé (in which case it would be number 242 according to the Pathé catalog). But it could also be made by La Maison De La Bonne Presse. Since no other recording of Riva has surfaced so far, this cylinder could well be the only vestige of his lyric carreer.
